North Pekin Church of the Nazarene

Rev. Ron Jansen  was born and raised in Canton, Illinois .   He  and his wife, Diana, will celebrate their thirty-six wedding anniversary  in November  of this year .  They have been blessed with  two children;  Leigha  and Kyle, and three grandchildren;  Mavrick Karigan  and  Jazper . The family moved to Cuba, Illinois in 1986. Their new  home was located  directly  behind the Nazarene Church. Shortly after settling in,  members of the church   began reaching out to them  which resulted in Ron and Diana being saved and sanctified .

Over the years in Cuba, Ron has served by teaching teen and adult Sunday school classes, sitting on the church board and holding the position of Sunday school superintendent.  Ron had an overwhelming encounter with God in the fall of 2008 while out mowing his pasture.  That day a covenant was made for Ron to spend the next fifty years of his life serving the Lord in ministry.   That same year Ron began the NWIL District Course of Study for ministry.

Ron and Diana had become members in 2008 of the Lewistown Church of the Nazarene and he joined the staff as Associate Pastor.  Ron is bi-vocationalalso holding a full-time Facility Manager position in an industrial setting He has been heavily involved in Encounters in his home church and around the district.  Ron is committed to the Master's Plan of discipleship and it's implementation in the congregation, as incredible fruit has been witnessed from this discipleship process.

In 2012 Ron became Ordained at District Assembly in 2012 on the NWIL District.  In September of 2012 Ron became the Lead Pastor at St. David Church of the Nazarene. Diana and I both have a passion for the lost where God places us. I feel best to categorize St. David as a new start church. They had 4 people helping keep the church door open. Over the next 4 years The Lord has blessed the obedience and faithfulness of those growing in holiness.  We have had growth in numbers, finances and spiritually a sign of a healthy church.
Salvations 26 -----Sanctification 13----Baptisms 21-----New Nazarenes 34

On September 11, 2016 Pastor Ron will preach his first sermon as he accepted the call to be Lead Pastor at North Pekin Church of the Nazarene.  It is so exciting to see how The Lord has prepared this moment for us all. Exciting days ahead as we share the Light, Love and Hope that Jesus brings to the world!! Ron and Diana have been welcomed with such love. They feel truly blessed.

Ron is always asking, "Who, what, when, and where" since Jesus clarified "why."

BGS calls for time of reflection as Thank Offering approaches

When you look around, you can't help but notice it: God has blessed us in so many ways. The psalmist calls on us to "sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy" (Psalm 107:22). When we give back, we recognize God as the giver of all good things. We remember now so that we never forget: it's All From Him.

"All From Him" is the theme for the 2016 Thanksgiving, or Thank, Offering. Together, we join in prayer and preparation for this annual emphasis in the Church of the Nazarene. As our gifts come together through the World Evangelism Fund, we make Christlike disciples in the nations. We remember God's generosity toward us and respond by giving back and spreading the gospel around the world.

Teen Quizzing is an excellent and fun way for teens to learn the Bible. All you need to start a program in your church is a willing adult to lead, at least one teen, and a Bible (NIV 2011 version)...or you can join with another church if you numbers are small. Materals can be ordered thorugh the Nazarene Publishing House or Acme Quiz (web address below). The cost is very reasonable. For example, a coach's packet from NPH costs less than $30 and includes an online subscription portion for a quizzer is $1.99. The coach's kit includes a "yellow book" with devotionals that you can use with your youth as a great resource for Bible study, even if they aren't going to quiz.
Cost: The cost for NWIL quizzes is $20 per quizzer for the whole year. This fee is due at the first quiz in September and covers all four of our NWIL district quizzes.

Tournaments outside of our district are reasonably priced and relatively close to us. You can contact the tournament directors via the Central Region quiz site for more information.

-Ministry Call-
NMI with the collaboration of NYI and SDMI has been trying to compile a list of children and youth who have expressed a call into ministry. The goal of NMI's Ministry Call is to educate, inform and guide those children and youth called into ministry get as much help in following through with those calls. Being able to pray for them by name and introducing them to opportunities to develop in their particular area of ministry.

If you know of a student who feels called into ministry please let Ronda Hollars know by giving her a call at 815-875-1900
or by email Ronda Hollars

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."   Matthew 28:19-20

As you are going,
THINK BIG: Every relationship, every interaction, all inclusive.

And make disciples,
START SMALL: You. Be one. Be a Christ-like disciple. Re-present Jesus.

Baptizing them, immersing them in Jesus,
GO DEEP: Pray. Empty yourself. Sacrifice.

The Invested Life - Making Disciples

I t is certainly true that we have a big world to reach for Christ and that it takes big acts of God to reach it. It's also true that sometimes Jesus and Paul moved fast, thought big, and focused on the many. They wanted to tell the whole world the good news that the Kingdom of God was at hand, accessible to anyone who would truly repent - turn back to God - and trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for life eternal and abundant. Indeed, we should be no less passionate about reaching our big world than they were.

Children's Ministry Workers -

If you're on Facebook, check out the newly created group - NWIL Children's Ministry - and request to join! We will be sharing children's ministry ideas, borrowing curriculum, bouncing ideas off one another and encouraging each other as we all seek to point kids toward Christ.

If you haven't yet filled out the Children's Ministry survey, please do so today at:

This will assist us in connecting together and determining ways to best support each other in ministry!

Please let me know how I can partner with you as you serve your local church!

BridgeWay
Operation Bless the Teachers
"Bridgeway...GOD is using you to be difference makers! I love a #hopetimist church. Today, I was able to drop off $500 worth of extra supplies to our partner school because of the generous obedience to God's call. They were so excited. Our partner school is over 60% free and reduced lunches which means many of those students aren't able to bring in all necessary supplies. You just filled in the gap in a big way! Thank God and thank you for all you are doing!" Rev. Jeff Stark

"Bridgeway!!! That's a wrap for this week! Thank you for the #radicalgenerosity you displayed throughout the week. We were able to bless 7 different schools throughout the community with breakfast, ending up at the High School today. You have been a blessing in ways that you can't even possibly understand. I've heard the most amazing things from teachers and administrators, one saying "In my 12 years of teaching this is the first time a church has ever done anything like this." Thank God for your faithfulness. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We will have more opportunities to bless other schools in the future.
Thanks to all those that made this week possible. I had great people helping me run to the schools. I had some folks hanging out at Wilson cleaning up. We had store bought goodies and homeade goodies (today we even had someone buy two breakfast pizzas from Caseys). Starbucks has been amazing! I can't say enough good about them. They partnered with us, worked with us in changing order sizes, and donated a bunch of coffee! I love what God is up to as we are participating in what God's up to in our community!" Rev. Jeff Stark

Sterling First

As a church we were able to raise enough money and have enough supplies donated to make 15 boxes of School Pal Packs this year. That's 150 Pal Packs going over seas! The kids were able to help pack some of them on Sunday morning.
Lewistown Church of the Nazarene
Once a month Lewistown Church and the community serves a meal to anyone that would like a meal. In August they served Fried Chicken meals with all the fixings and dessert to anyone that would like a meal. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended.

During the meal a slideshow was presented with 800 plus pictures of their community working playing laughing and just living life together.

"Over 13% of our small town was given a free meal in Jesus' name. 310 to be exact. Thanks to all that helped and for the patience as we got a little behind with the chicken. 240 lbs of chicken fried. WOW! Kent and Jayson are being used by God." Rev. Randy Munson

Jerry D. Porter delivered the annual Board of General Superintendents' Report during the 93rd Session of the General Board 28 February in Ede, Netherlands. This was the first General Board held outside the U.S.

Porter's report, titled "VISION 2020-Multiplying Christlike Disciples," was enthusiastically received by the members of the General Board, officers, Global Ministry Center directors and staff, regional directors, Nazarene Publishing House leaders, and guests.
