The Self Practice
At home, I practice Yoga Kurunta. Kuranti is a puppet, a doll made of wood. Geeta Iyengar writes, "In Yoga Kurunta one learns to manipulate oneself in various Yoga postures by means of a suspended rope as if one were a puppet."
Practicing Yoga Kurunta, I find I can reach a particular part of my body and allow it to open with less effort and strain through proper alignment. Alignment is important because we often strive toward a pose and habitually use our muscles strength in a way that can inhibit or block the flow of energy. By suspending the body through Yoga Kurunta, movements are more fluid and true strength is recognized as an inner conscious and intelligent energy.
