Reporting NAMI Education Program Data

Reporting the data collected from classes, support groups and trainings to the NAMI Data Collection Site is extremely important. Reporting helps NAMI California provide more data to obtain funding so that we can provide trainings for NAMI's Signature Programs. We understand that navigating the reporting site can be challenging, but we are here to help if any assistance is needed with navigating the Data Collection Site. If you have any questions or need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact NAMI California at (916) 567-0163.

NAMI CA Conducts First In-Person Ending the Silence Training

NAMI California conducted their first in-person Ending the Silence (ETS) training on September 10th and 11th in Sacramento, CA. There were 5 graduates representing NAMI Solano County at the training. It was very exciting for NAMI CA to conduct their first in-person ETS training and even more exciting for NAMI Solano County, who will now be able to offer the ETS program to their community.

Provider Education 4-Hour Education Seminar Now Available

NAMI Provider Education is a free 5-week course that presents a penetrating, subjective view of family and consumer experiences with serious mental illness to line staff at public agencies who work directly with people experiencing severe and persistent mental illnesses. The course helps providers realize the challenges that families and consumers face and appreciate the courage and persistence it takes to live with and recover from mental illness.

NAMI is excited to announce that it is now offering the Provider Education course in a 4-hour seminar format instead of the 5-week course, which is based on the NAMI Provider curriculum. The 5-week course is still a valid option, but you now have access to another format. The seminar is presented using Power Point slides, lecture, handouts and interactive exercises. The seminar is taught by a teaching team that includes one family member, one person in recovery and one mental health professional, who is also affected by mental illness. This wonderful opportunity will help affiliates deliver this program to mental health providers.

The NAMI Provider seminar must be presented by participants that have successfully completed the teacher training for the full program (1.5 days). Additional webinar training is required of all NAMI Provider teachers who wish to offer the seminar.

For any questions, please contact Erik Villalobos, Education Coordinator at [email protected] . For more information about the new seminar, you can review the following documents:

Opportunity for people living with schizophrenia and family caregivers to help improve medications for schizophrenia.
Do you know people, including program participants or volunteers, who may be interested in improving medications for schizophrenia? If so, please forward the image and message below.

Are you interested in improving the quality of medications for schizophrenia? If you live with schizophrenia or are a caregiver of someone who does, NAMI National has an opportunity for you.

NAMI is working with a pharmaceutical company that is researching a new medication that targets early symptoms of schizophrenia. NAMI is looking for adults who would like to answer an anonymous survey on their experiences with schizophrenia to help inform the research.

If you're interested, call NAMI (888-780-4167) or email NAMI ( [email protected] ) and NAMI will ask you a few brief questions. If you qualify, you'll be emailed a link to participate in NAMI's Virtual Advisory Panel where you'll take a survey and, if you like, share comments or advice.

Note: To participate in Virtual Advisory Panel, you'll need access to the internet through a computer, tablet or smartphone at the time of the survey.

NAMI values your time and lived experience. Individuals who complete the survey will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Thank you for improving the quality of medications for schizophrenia.
