Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 12

September 16, 2016

Dear North Community Catholic School Families:
We hope that our students have enjoyed their free day on this beautiful, sunny Autumn day!  Our faculty enjoyed professional development on the topic of writing in all content areas. Dr. Tim Murnen from Bowling Green State University first presented on the topic for us last school year and returned for a follow up session today.  One of our current school improvement plan goals centers around improving student writing in all subjects, and we are grateful to Dr. Murnen for bringing us such good professional development.

School picture day is Tuesday, September 20.  These pictures are used for our year book; therefore, students need to be in complete uniform.  Absolutely no jeans passes may be used for this day.  We will schedule a second optional picture day in the spring.  Students may dress out of uniform for the spring pictures.  Be sure to send the order form for your pictures with your students, or you can pre-order online.

We have already reached the midpoint of the first quarter.  Midterm progress reports will be sent home next Friday.  All K-3 students receive a midterm progress report.  Students in grades 4-8 only receive a midterm if they are have grades of C or lower.  Please sign and return the midterm to your child's teacher.

The school website has recently been updated.  You can now find all faculty emails updated, and there are also links to all issues of this school newsletter.
Have a wonderful weekend!  See everyone on Monday!

    Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Beth Strbik
Principal

Important attendance information:
State law requires parents to notify school when their child is absent.  If your child needs to be absent from school or will be arriving late due to an appointment, please call the school before 8:30 a.m.

NCCS Facebook
Dear Parents,

We have created Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts for NCCS, the North Community Catholic School.  The purpose of these accounts will be to share all of the amazing things happening at the St. Catherine's Early Childhood Education Center Campus, Regina Coeli Campus, and Most Blessed Sacrament Campus through one public account.  By following NCCS on Facebook, you will also find events from all of the schools and parishes which will strengthen our NCCS community.  Feel free to send any pictures you take of our schools to [email protected] or tag us in the post.  Please follow us at the North Community Catholic School Facebook Page, Twitter: @nccs_toledo, Instagram: @nccstoledo Hashtag is #NCCSToledo.  Also, please visit our website at www.nccstoledo.org!

Gym Clothes
All NCCS students in grades 2-8 must have official NCCS physical education uniforms to wear in PE class.  Students dress in their school uniforms and change for gym into the PE uniform.   You can order these uniforms at www.jazztextiles.com.   Select the online store, and our access code is BSNCCS.

Also available at this site are school uniform approved full zip fleece jackets and 1/4 zip pull over fleece to keep our kids warmer during the colder months, in adult sizes as well.  Like the gym uniform, they can be ordered any time and will be delivered to the school.

Fall Sports Sign-Up Change
Our students have the ability to participate in a variety of sports through the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish CYO athletic program.  Since the athletic program runs through the parish, not our school, you can find information about athletics on the parish website at www.blessedsacramenttoledo.com under "activities and events" and "youth board."  Fall sports include cross country, volleyball, football, flag football, soccer, and cheerleading.
Sign-ups are done electronically with instructions posted under the website listed above.

SCRIP
Shopping for groceries, filling the tank with gas, eating at a favorite restaurant....These routine things we do every week have proven to be a great way for Blessed Sacrament parents to shave off money from their child's tuition.  You purchase gift cards or certificates from places you shop at anyway and the discount goes back to your child's tuition.  More than 200 local businesses participate in the SCRIP program.  Families who purchase the certificates can designate that their portion be applied to their tuition bill.  To purchase SCRIP, contact Katie at [email protected] or phone her at 419-438-0476.
