CFC Dental Staff Volunteer in
Mobile Dental Clinic
Addressing oral health needs in rural communities

Members of CFC's Dental staff recently traveled to Wise, VA to volunteer at a mobile dental clinic focused on providing preventive, restorative and surgical dental treatments to low-income individuals.

From Staff to Student: Monica
"Evening clinic is where the magic happens"

Monica Nable initially learned about the Charlottesville Free Clinic as a first year student at the University of Virginia. The psychology major volunteered as an EMT with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad. "Witnessing the challenges and frustrations of patients with no health insurance nor other access to health care besides the Emergency Department led me to pursue my MPH in order to understand more fully our health care delivery system, overall population health, and disease prevention." After a couple of years of CFC employment, Monica said she realized she could be doing more for our patients.

CFC Bids a Fond Farewell
to Barrie Gleason Carveth

Barrie Gleason Carveth began volunteering at the Charlottesville Free Clinic in its original location on West Main Street in the early nineties. "I was drawn to the mission of the Free Clinic and to the opportunity to contribute what I could to the community that means so much to me." That dedication amassed to 12 years of employment as CFC's Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP); since then, Barrie has created long-lasting ties with many of our patients who call the CFC their medical home.
