September 2016
Gene17's River Flow Newsletter

After a very busy year with trips, courses and events, September has brought a minor respite, a pause if you like, before the cycle begins again. The logistics are soon to be reset, where by normally vans, kayaks and paddles all stored away in Slovenia, ready for March and our 2017 trips. However this autumn much of the gear is heading to Devon for several new projects, one of which you can read about below. En route from Slovenia, Simon will be working at PADDLEexpo in Germany, the european paddlesports trade show, and will reveal all few highlights in our October news. Jake has been out in Russia for the summer and started several filming projects, some of which has focused on his paragliding pursuits. Jakub has been training towards his annual Sickline racing push here in Norway, and Deb has been sea kayak gliding for a few months in between her research projects. Currently Bonney is seeing out the final days of the season in Slovenia, after another great "Soča All Summer Long" programme.

It looks like quite an acemedic up take of late at Gene17Kayaking, with Simon joining Chris on a DProf at UCLAN, Deb mid way through her PhD and Bonney about to start the final year of his Bachelors degree. Below we have our autumn programme outlined, and some exciting news. More news will come in a few days on another exciting development that we see Gene17Kayaking open up to a wide scope of paddlers. Until then, happy paddling.

NEW  - INTRO TO WHITE WATER
For years at Gene17Kayaking we have focused on the core areas where our services have been demanded within in the performance coaching end of paddling. Yet at times we are often radically changing  and shaping performances that were based on traditional and often stale ideas.

From autumn 2016, we are now going to grasp the nettle and start a regular programme of Intro to White Water classes.  These will occur roughly every 4 weeks and will run throughout the season in Devon.  Key  resources have been brought in from our logistics based in Slovenia, plus we'll have equipment available from our leading paddlesports manufactures for our paddlers to use.

We'll offer these courses for both individuals, groups and clubs.  Our GREAT CLOSED COURSE RATE with our quality of coaching is superb value.  For this new programme of courses see: Intro to WW and CONTACT US to get started.

UPPER DART GUIDING - AMY ELWORTHY

From this autumn we will again be offering regular Upper Dart guiding with our Brand Ambassador Amy Elworthy.  Several years back Amy tentatively joined Gene17 on a trip in Norway, after a few knock backs with her own paddling experiences.  With a long term development plan, hard work and dedication Amy has become a solid Class IV paddler and river guide.  She recently joined us on our Next Generation programme, a summer internship in Norway and has completed her BCU 5 Star River Leader Award.  Amy has been guiding fiends and family down the Upper Dart for some time now, and she'll ensure you'll have a great time and learn some fine lines too.  The Upper Dart guiding with Amy is very popular, and after several requests we have added an optional warm up day on the Dart Loop.   See Guiding with Amy for further details and booking .

See you on the river.

Best Regards,
