Elevation Church Helps in a Big Way on Habitat Cabarrus' Tiny House Build
A big thank you goes out to Elevation Church for being the premier sponsor and for the numerous volunteers that have come out to the build site to offer their hard work in some very warm temperatures.
The tiny house has all of the walls up and volunteers are continuing to diligently work on completing the home. The tiny house is slated to be complete in early fall.
Our 2016 Women Build home dedication took place on Monday, July 25th. Despite the sweltering heat that day, close to 100 people came out to take part in the dedication ceremony.
Executive Director Dave Zablotny and Resource Development Director Katie Page gave a brief thank you to all of the volunteers and Women Build teams that made this build possible. One of the team leaders, Lisa Perry of Perry Productions, was given the honor of presenting the keys to our newest homeowner, Julie, and her five granddaughters.
Rhonda Snell had already cleared so many hurdles. After her husband died, leaving her with two young children and no insurance, she found Habitat for Humanity, and in 2001 she moved into a new three-bedroom home in Pensacola, Fla.
But when she finally landed an interview for a better job, she had nothing appropriate to wear.
Betty Salter, then executive director of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, made the kind of gesture that had won her the hearts of so many during her 30-year tenure: She offered Snell one of her own business suits.
