NEFE again will sponsor 10 HSFPP educators to join us at the Jump$tart National Educator Conference. Eligible instructors must submit a personal "I Knew My Students Got It When ..." story before midnight EST on Sept. 22.

New on the HSFPP Blog
by Susan Sharkey, HSFPP Director
As many teachers have experienced, a lesson can get waylaid by questions and comments from students.  During a recent workshop while talking to a group of preteens and teens, it became apparent that they misunderstood how debit cards work.

I just had to pause during our time together for an impromptu conversation about the responsibilities of using a debit card and the undesirable consequences of misusing or losing the card.
Before students can make mindful money management decisions they need to understand the impact of their daily spending habits. Sound like a fun conversation to have with your students? If you answered no, then you haven't met Spendster, NEFE's YouTube channel for overspending confessions.
During the 2016/2017 school year, a professional research firm will evaluate HSFPP's impact and processes to analyze how the program is implemented and examine changes in teen behavior, knowledge and attitudes.

In preparation for the study, NEFE is seeking HSFPP instructors who are willing and able to participate in classroom observations, interviews and surveys.

Complete an online application by Oct. 1 to be eligible for incentives if selected to participate.
