Hey guys,
This Friday night we have our Back To School Bash!!! Invite some friends, some people from school, your neighborhood...everyone is welcome! It's going to be a great time with other 6th - 8th graders for sure. We'll have plenty to do...including swimming...so wear a swimsuit :) We'll have a fire...so expect Smore's, hot dogs, and a mesmerizing ambience. Bubba has some sweet games to play and of course we'll have snacks and drinks too.
This Sunday, bring everyone back for a great lesson on social media, filters (or not using a filter), and more fun.
We all love to post pictures, comment on other people's stuff, and interact with our friends online. But as great as social media is, there's a part of it that can be stressful. If we're being honest, we'd all probably admit that social media sometimes causes us to wonder what other people think of us. We don't get many likes on a photo or hear no response to a comment shared with a friend and we start to wonder if something is wrong with what we posted or, even worse, if something is wrong with us. In other words, we start to see ourselves differently because of what we think other people think about us.
While social media may be a modern day thing, the problem of how we see ourselves is not new at all. In fact, the Apostle Paul was writing about it thousands of years ago in a letter to his friends at the church in Ephesus. And his words to them will give us a new filter-the best filter-through which we can view ourselves.
See you soon!
