Everley's Angels

The Ottawa Laser Clinic recently made a donation to the Everley's Angels campaign in support of baby Everley and her parents.

Everley was born with a very rare genetic condition called "Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome" (CCHS). This means that when Everley falls asleep, she doesn't breathe properly and she needs specialized equipment to help regulate her breathing. Without this equipment, she will not be able to survive. There are only 1,000 reported cases of CCHS in the entire world.

There is presently no cure for CCHS and Everley cannot grow out of this condition. She will be ventilated for life and she will always require special care and special equipment.

Along with this rare genetic condition, Everley was recently diagnosed with a SECOND rare condition (unrelated to CCHS) called Glucagon Malfunction and it is the first reported case of its kind in all of Canada. Doctors are working hard on a treatment plan for Everley but her situation is extremely complex.
