February 5, 2016 Max Weber Professor Christine Landfried Receives Schader Prize
Christine Landfried, DAAD's Max Weber Professor for German and European Studies at NYU, has been awarded the 2016 Schader Prize, an annual award for innovative work in the social sciences. The Schader Foundation Senate bestowed the prize on Prof. Landfried in acknowledgement of her interdisciplinary academic work with great impact in the fields of political science and law. Her groundbreaking research addresses issues such as constitutional policy, the influence of (inter)national courts on politics, European integration and political corruption. The Schader Prize is endowed with 15,000 euros and will be presented in May 2016 in Darmstadt by Dieter Grimm, constitutional judge and former head of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. The Center for Mind, Brain and Cognitive Evolution at the Ruhr University Bochum announces senior and junior fellowships for the academic year 2016/2017. MBC is a cooperative platform that fosters interdisciplinary research projects and supports special MA programs at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience. Research projects integrate four methodological approaches: the philosophical analysis of mental phenomena (MIND), the investigation of physiological processes (BRAIN), the study of behavioral patterns including computational modeling and comparative studies of cognitive functions (Cognitive Evolution). The goal of the center is to develop a new understanding of cognition focusing on social cognition, self and action, concepts and categorization, and learning and memory. The third Frankfurt Summer School Summer of Knowledge organized by Goethe University will take place from July 18 to August 12, 2016. Frankfurt Summer School covers three subject areas: All courses are held in English. Excursions and study tours to the German cities of Heidelberg and Berlin as well as a weekend visit to the French town of Strasbourg are also part of the program. German language courses for beginners and more advanced learners take place in small learning groups. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2016.
