IN THIS ISSUE:
Dear Friends,

As the extremely warm, dry, and fleeting days of our New England summer begin to yield to a hopefully glorious fall, we look ahead to a new season for the Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International with a mixture of emotions. Sadly, we embark on the 2016-17 season without the presence of our mentoring beacon, Mr. F. Gorham Brigham, Jr. who left us all far better for having known him, on September the 1st. Gorham rode remarkably successful herd over many seasons with FEI, countless other causes and organizations, and life in general. We will miss him deeply and strive to honor his legacy in every way possible by keeping FEI Boston meaningful, relevant, and robust for today's and tomorrow's senior financial leadership in Greater Boston. We will dedicate the 2016-17 season to Gorham's memory and to the theme of an enduring FEI now and in the years to come.

With that theme of extending an unparalleled legacy into the future, I am thrilled to be kicking off our 2016-17 Executive Event program on September 21st with our special guest and dinner speaker Ms. Yvonne Garcia, Senior Vice President, State Street Corporation and National Chairwoman of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA). I have had the pleasure of knowing Yvonne and following her incredible professional advancement for nearly ten years now, thanks to my prior role as Chair of the Chapter's Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Yvonne is an extremely prominent and highly admired financial executive who is not only a very familiar face in the Latino business community both locally and nationally, but is also an archetype for the true objectives of diversity and inclusion, a talented, energetic and thoughtful rising executive for all of America who happens to bring with her a background and perspective of being ethnically Latina. I know that everyone will greatly enjoy hearing Yvonne's insights and observations on the business imperative of embracing diversity under the Newton Marriott pavilion tent on the 21st. I hope that we are as weather blessed as we have been the last few years since moving the first few evening events outdoors to that great venue.

The entire Board has been busily working all summer on the many facets that distinguish and uniquely define FEI Boston. I am quite excited by the content of both our Professional Development and Career Services programming lineup which kicks off on Tuesday evening September 13th with a Career Services session on Resume Review, and a Friday morning September 30th Professional Development panel focused on Attracting and Retaining Talent in a Robust Job Market. I encourage as many of you as can make it to attend our full slate of programming as each offers its own networking and rich content value.

I am honored to be FEI Boston's President for 2016-17. I look forward with great excitement to seeing many familiar faces, to welcoming back our recently less active members, and to meeting new friends in the season ahead. I hope to see you on the 21st and to starting with a great celebration in tribute to Gorham and to our future.

Best Regards,
Timothy J. Coakley
