YOUR LOCAL UNITED WAY IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Sabrina Gast
Have you met our Campaign Chair?

It is an honor to introduce our 2016-2017 Campaign Chair, Sabrina Gast. Sabrina is known to many as our York County Coroner, but at United Way she serves many volunteer roles.  She is currently serving on our Board of Directors and is an active member of our Grants/Allocations Committee. This committee is tasked with reviewing the agency requests for funding and making difficult decisions of the funding amounts.  Sabrina and other grant volunteers review the financial capacity, the demonstrated need, the program outcomes, and the results of the effective use of resources of each agency's request.
Sabrina truly understands the importance of a successful campaign and the need for funding to make changes in our community.  We thank Sabrina for her continued service and know that this year, under her leadership, we will thrive and continue to do the important work needed here in York County.

It's Campaign Season!

Duke Energy- Catawba Nuclear Station held their Community Agency Fair to benefit the United Way of York County, SC, on August 4, 2016. The Community Agency Fair allows the United Way and our partner agencies to discuss and demonstrate the importance of giving to the United Way. A gift through United Way recognizes problems experienced by individuals, families and neighborhoods are rarely one dimensional. When you give to United Way you are supporting comprehensive solutions to these problems.
Kelvin Henderson, Site Vice-President of the Catawba Nuclear Station and UWYC Board Member, was on hand to support, answer questions, and most of all to thank everyone. Scott Wallace, who many of you know because of her numerous roles at United Way, is also on the United Way Committee at Duke Energy and played a major role in organizing the event.  Her enthusiasm and commitment show that she and her fellow Duke Energy teammates care about our community and we want to say thank you!

The results are in- and they're good!

United Way of York County partnered with WSOC 9 School Tools to collect school supplies for local children. As our kids begin a new year, thank you for everything you have done to help our students start school with the tools they need to learn. What we have done together will hopefully have a permanent impact on the lives of our youth.  This year we collected over 5,400 items that went to children in York County. The number of items collected greatly exceeded expectations. We would like to thank our partners for their support of the drive- Thank You to Citi Financial Fort Mill, Showmars- Rock Hill locations, US Postal Service, Tega Cay Academy, and Hickory Tavern for serving as collection points. Thank you for your generosity and for making an impact on the lives of York County children.
Employee Campaign Coordinator Luncheon

The United Way Employee Campaign Coordinator's (ECC) Luncheon, hosted by Comporium, was held on August 25th. An ECC is a champion at each company that is responsible for raising the awareness and need for United Way.  They play an essential role in our fundraising process.
Over 45 people attended a catered lunch by Brenda Roof at Catering Affairs with a program designed to enhance their work as an ECC this fall.  We had new campaign materials that we were excited to showcase! These materials were designed by Centerfold Agency after several months of input from our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.  The new materials were developed to assist in explaining the importance of why you should support United Way, as well as a FAQ to answer questions for our donors.
A special Thank You to Chrissy Steen of Comporium for helping the day run smoothly with her time and commitment in preparing for our special event.
