HVAC season has arrived. As I type this paragraph, it is expected to be the hottest day of the year thus far for 2015. Do you know how your building is performing in this heat? What is the data telling you about your building? Do you have enough data or too much to help you make good decisions? Well if you don't know, that's where we can help.
Knowing the data inside and out, and being able to translate that data into usable information is one of the best ways COAC can be of service to you and your daily operations decisions.
This issue of
Trends dives into the data to help guide you where to look for answers and then how to take action. We also want to express our sincere gratitude for all of the many friends, and business partners who joined us for the COAC Customer Appreciation Open House
(read more and see photos below) it was a great success and a benefit for St. John's Program For Real Change.

From Data to Dollars:
The Power of the Connected Building
Buildings are going from a dozen data points on a utility bill to real-time data reported every 30 seconds. For a simple building, that extrapolates to over 12 million data points in a year. For a more complex building with multiple submeters or a large portfolio, the figure quickly escalates into the billions. The machines are coming - indeed, they are already here - and they are talking to each other. But rather than being the villains in a science fiction movie, these machines are here to help.

Four Big Benefits of Real-Time Energy Data
The ultimate goals of facility executives are to catch problems early, make operating fixes quickly, keep occupants happy, and drive down operating expenses. Achieving these goals requires maximum control of the buildings they manage. As some of the projects require a higher cost than can normally be justified, facility executives require a way to prove the money will be well spent.
Enter real-time data. Real-time data gives facility managers a pulse on their properties, to always know exactly what's happening in a building, instead of waiting for a surprise bill at the end of each month.

We are exceedingly grateful to our clients who trust us with their building investments. Here is a recent comment from one such customer:
"Thank you for taking a few minutes to talk to me yesterday while you were out to perform maintenance on the system. What a nice change from what we have dealt with for years. Since the new system has been properly adjusted by the COAC team, we have had very few complaints. This has made a piece of my job tons easier. So on behalf of the DHHS tenants a very big THANK YOU for the new control system."

Teresa Heckley, ASO II
