A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
|
|
Welcome, and Welcome Back
It's been a week of both "bonjours" and 'bon voyages" as members of the most recent graduating class have been dropping by for one last chat before heading off to colleges and universities across the country, and as we say hello and hello again to new and returning RHP and Renaissance students families beginning the 2016-2017 school year. Teachers have all been back on campus for a week now, and we are fired up to greet you and your children at tomorrow's orientation and barbecue and other upcoming events. Full details of the week's schedule are below.
We are two schools, and one vibrant community:
· Rolling Hills Prep prides itself on being a forward looking, academically rigorous college-prep school with a soul.
· Renaissance believes that bright students who learn differently can rise to great heights when they become empowered and confident.
At both schools we work in partnership with parents to develop in our students, your children, the "Four Pillars" of Disciplined Minds, Sound Character, Healthy Bodies, and Creative Spirits, complemented by the 5C's of 21st Century Skills: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Character and Creativity. Many more details of how we intend to achieve our goals again this year will be forthcoming at the September 7 Back to School Night.
I am very much looking forward to working with you and your family this year. We often say, "Once a Husky, always a Husky," and whether you are just joining the Husky family or have been with us for many years, I extend a warm welcome to RHP's 35th year and Renaissance's 13th. We hope our relationship is both long and fruitful for you and your children.
Go Huskies!

RHP and Renaissance Traffic Rules
You will be pleased to see that we now have a traffic light installed at the campus entrance/exit (Huge kudos to the donors who made generous gifts to make this finally a reality). Please drive slowly (walking pace) on campus. Drive as if your children go to school here! In short, the rules are:
· All vehicles must clearly display an RHP or Ren decal on the back window (City regulation).
· No cutting through residential streets to avoid the light at Western and PV Drive North, and no drop-off or pick-up anywhere except on campus (City regulation and agreed courtesy to our neighbors).
· Morning drop-off is parallel to the curb, and
quickly, please, unless you need to park in the main lot and come into school for some reason.
· Grades 5-7 may drop off parallel to the curb by the West Wing.
· Afternoon pick up at peak times is using the football field lot as either pick up or as a cell-phone lot for IMMEDIATE pickup at the flag pole. No lining up or waiting at the flag pole please.

Hi Huskies! It's Christopher Kent! This summer has been full of adventures for all. My social media feed shows what everyone has been doing! I will be creating a video about what Huskies Did This Summer: 2016! The video will most likely be shown within the first few weeks of school at a morning meeting. If you want to be featured in this video, send pictures/audio/visual to
[email protected]
No matter what you did, send in a summary of what you got to do and help make the video full to the brim with Huskies! Staff are also welcome to send in too! Everyone gets to join in on the fun!
