The challenge of the unknown future is so much more exciting than the stories of the accomplished past.
--
Simon Sinek
Looking to the future is exciting and challenging!
Having a new logo and updating our website
www.acamcenter.org
are steps into the future.
A donation of $6,500 can help ACAM move into the future if we match that amount by June 30. We are 65% of the way there.
If you'd like to help us reach our goal, hit the Donate button to close the gap on the last 35%! Our deadline is June 30.
Thank you for your donations! Every $30 provides a group class for ACAM students. $300 means ten classes! And for our young artists, that makes the future exciting!
Director,
Angelica Center for Arts & Music
. . . bringing peace, hope and understanding!

Sue Poulson, with Elinor and Rick Martin, are surrounded by donated items. |
Two vehicles full of instruments and equipment arrived at ACAM last Saturday from Agoura.
Elinor and Rick Martin were donating their son's drum set and Korg piano, along with an amplifier.
Sue Poulson helped with the transport and brought a donated violin. Sue, a former member of Angelica, is ACAM's ambassador at New Hope Lutheran Church in Agoura. Last November she arranged for ACAM students to play for two of their services.
ACAM is so happy to partner with New Hope!

Thank you Ms. Ute and Ms. Val
|
ACAM wants to thank two of our teaching artists for their dedicated service to the ACAM students and wish them the best as they leave us. Our students are the richer for their careful and creative guidance.
Ute Iaconis has guided ACAM theatre students the past year and a half in creating theatre in a creative and collaborative process. Her students play a vital role in developing stories they dramatize, contributing ideas, and making decisions as a group. Ute Draws on her experience teaching students at all levels of theatre, as well as preparing teachers to teach theatre.
|
Valencia Mitchell began as a teaching artist with ACAM in 2013. Her violin students have benefited from her expertise and as a result play with a warm and beautiful tone. She expanded the violin classes to three levels, exposed students to a variety of music. She helped develop the orchestra and groomed level 2 and 3 students to be a part of its string section.

ACAM Recorder Students Learn with Master Teacher
|
|
Mr. Axworthy gives students insight into their recorder music.
|
|
Eleven of ACAM's Level 3 and 4 recorder students learned from master teacher, Tom Axworthy, May 28 in a Recorder Master Class funded by the American Recorder Society. Following Mr. Axworthy initial instruction, Ricardo BerĂ³n, Nick Siu, and Paula Sirola joined him in a concert for students and parents.
The four later joined the students in a practice session and concert for parents where students demonstrated what they had learned during the class.
Teaching Artist, Ms Sirola stated, "Just the experience of having Tom's insight into what they needed at that moment - learning to listen better, correcting trill fingering - was invaluable." In addition, seven students from Level 2 participated in a special class led by Ms. Sirola and enjoyed both concerts.
