Give Him Your All

One of my favorite stories when I was growing up, and still today, is the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with only five loaves and two fish. You all know that story so there is no need to re-tell all the details but Jesus and His disciples were confronted with a hungry crowd of people who had been listening to Jesus and His wonderful stories all morning. If you have children, and I know most of you do, you are all very aware of what happens to a bunch of individuals when they are hungry; they turn into little bears. That is exactly what Jesus and His disciples faced on that day.

I think that the reason I like this story so much is two-fold. First of all, God used the gifts of a child to work a miracle in feeding the hungry mob. No one in the crowd had anything they were willing to share with the large mob. If they did have anything, they wanted to keep it to themselves. The child, who had only five loaves and two fish, which could not have been of any size, was willing to share what he had so that others could have something to eat. We can learn a lot from this child. He was willing to help others without thinking about what it might ultimately cost him.

The second thing and the most important lesson from this story is that God asked the little boy to give Him what He had. He did not put limits or expectations on the gift. He asked the boy to give Him the five loaves and two fish and that is all. The boy gave Jesus and His disciples all he had and God used the gift to bless so many others. God used the little gift of five loaves and two fish and multiplied it over and over and over again. Who would have believed that this small gift could bless so many?

God has asked us the same thing and continues to ask us to give Him our all. He has not asked us to be perfect in our actions and deeds. Whether it is taking a spelling test, unclogging a drain, changing the oil on a car, changing a diaper, or replacing a heart valve, God has just asked us to give Him what we have. He wants our all and with that He will do miraculous and mighty things. Give Him your all, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is and see what He will do with it.
Friday Blue Jean $1 Day
Thank you to all who helped their student participate in the Blue Jean $1 Day today with proceeds going to pancreatic cancer research in honor of Angela Meyer (Angela's Angels). Please be in prayer for Mrs. Angela as she and Ernie travel to Houston in early September to visit MD Anderson Cancer Center for more answers and further treatment options for Mrs. Angela. Pray for the medical team who will be meeting and providing answers for them, too. Pray that God's name will be praised even in the midst of this journey.

Cookie Dough Kick-Off
Today was the kick-off day for our annual cookie dough fundraiser. Information will come home today about the cookie dough sale. Last year, we were able to purchase several Chromebooks for student use and want to continue to buy more Chromebooks as well as tablets to be used for educational purposes in the lower grades as well as provide training for the teachers in order to maximize their use. In addition, we have several teacher laptops that need to be replaced or repaired and that will be funded by this fundraiser. Thank you in advance for your participation in this project. Please look for more information to be sent home by email soon.

Early Dismissal Due to Water Issues
Thank you for your cooperation on Wednesday with our early dismissal. Earlier this week, we had been noticing some water pressure issues which became quite a big issue on Wednesday when we had several toilets spring leaks because of the pressure. We felt it necessary to send the students home to be able to shut off the water and the flooding that might have resulted in more damage. On Thursday, the plumbers and Mr. Ron finally discovered the issue and we could then turn the water back on and resume classes.

We are actually thankful that we were able to try out our text and communication systems in case we should have another emergency this year. If you did not receive a text and signed up for that service, there might be something wrong with the information about your service carrier. Please call the school office to update any information. We must have a working number so that we can contact someone regarding your student in case there is an emergency situation.

Also, once you have received notice that we are closing, you have approximately 45 minutes to make arrangements and make sure that your student(s) are picked up. After that time, we will charge your account $1 per student for every minute. Once again, please make sure you have made arrangements with someone to pick your student up should you not be able to do so in a timely manner. Thank you for your cooperation. It is much appreciated!

Flu Shot Clinic
For your convenience, Walmart Pharmacy, in East Ridge, is going to conduct a flu shot clinic at BCA in the next couple of weeks. They are able to come in and administer the shots to students, parents, siblings, and other family members. They do have to have an idea of how many shots they need to bring over so there will be a sign-up sheet as soon as we know dates and times. They will take cash ($28) or bill your insurance right here. Stay tuned for sign-up times as well as clinic times. By the way, BCA will not make any money on this. We are just trying to make this easier on our families who want to get vaccinated but have really busy schedules.

Volunteer Hours
Just a reminder that there are folders in each classroom (PK-8th) where you should sign and date when you serve volunteer hours with your student's class. We have plenty of things for you to do to satisfy those 6 family hours. Keep checking the newsletter for more opportunities.
