An Invitation From Mayor Kitty Piercy: South Willamette Forum
September 19th, 6pm
The purpose of the meeting is to provide people from across the community with the opportunity to share their thoughts about engagement processes related to South Willamette, in particular any concepts or comments that may not have been shared yet. In addition, since this project was the first of other area planning efforts that will be necessary throughout the community to meet our Envision Eugene goals, I invite all community members to provide ideas about future engagement in neighborhoods.
To hear from as many people in the community as possible, comments will be welcome at the forum or in writing. An e-mail address (
[email protected]
) has been established to collect ideas through September 20
. All communications will be shared with Council and published on the City's website prior to their next work session on this topic. At the work session, Council will discuss how to move forward based on community feedback received, the work of Oregon Consensus, the Brown/Clark proposal and other potential combinations.

Faith In Action With Our Homeless
September 22nd, 10am-3pm
Northwest Youth Corps, 2621 Augusta Street, Eugene
Eugene's Mayor Kitty Piercy is pleased to invite two leaders from every congregation in central Lane County to participate in the event Faith in Action With Our Homeless on
Thursday, September 22, 2016. Those people will be expected to report back to their congregation following the event, and offer strategies for continued engagement. Ideally, there would be two representatives each from 50 different congregations.
If you are a member of a particular religious community, please discuss this with your leader and come to a decision about which two people could best represent your congregation. The intended audience for this year's event are members of established religious congregations, although non-religious volunteers are welcome to participate in hosting the event. Stay tuned for additional, similar events directed at the business community, the "activist" community, government and non-profit service agencies.
The Quest team believes that it will strengthen our community's ability to provide shelter to people who are unhoused if the nearby 200-plus congregations form a communication network. The team has sent invitations to congregations of diverse faiths and select homeless resource guests.
Registration will close when 120 participants have registered or by September 15, 2016. There will be no drop-in registration.
Sometimes the lack of material resources and a supportive partnership is the only barrier preventing a congregation from taking action on a shelter-related project, while other congregations have taken on a number of endeavors and have much wisdom and experience to share.
