Thirty-eight IEA-Retired members attended the third annual training for retired activists at IEA’s Summer Leadership Academy (SLA).
The training included:
Specifics around the Local Presidents’ Outreach Task Force, a group of retired volunteers who are tasked with helping make personal contact with approximately 600 of our active IEA Local Presidents.
A presentation from IEA Government Relations Lobbyist Nicole Wills and a very interactive presentation from former IEA President Bob Haisman.
IEA-Retired Legislative Action Committee presented on the second day, with the highlight of the training being the debut of their new, IEA-Retired Political Advocacy Handbook, Stand Up! Speak Out! An NEA-Retired grant partially funded this activity, which was well-received and highly-praised by those who attended.
