WE HAVE A NEW PRINCIPAL!
We are very excited to announce that Mr. Lance Howard is the
new Principal of World Compass
Academy!
Mr. Howard has 22 years of elementary education experience that ranges from public/charter to private school education. His past
13 years of experience in educational and organizational leadership
has p
repared him well to help lead and guide World Compass Academy. He brings experiential value, personal integrity, and a high regard for collaboration to the school's educational community. His passion to help others learn and grow stems from his personal commitment to being a high quality, life-long learner that implements positive leadership through a strong work ethic. He has taught fourth and fifth grade, as well as kindergarten through sixth grade as a specials teacher. Additionally, he has been a lead teacher, Assistant Principal/Academy Director, and Principal at three schools prior to joining the World Compass Academy family.
Mr. Howard grew up in Minnesota, but has lived in Colorado for the last 22 years in Colorado Springs. His wife is an Iowa farm girl who works in an elementary school in D-11. He has three kids: a daughter who is a NNU college freshman, a daughter who is a sophomore at JICHS, and
a son who is an 8th grader at FMS. He enjoys spending time with his wonderful family, the great Colorado outdoors, his local church family, and loves great story telling through movies and books.
He is excited about the opportunity to join the World Compass Academy family and is looking forward to a great 2016-17 school year! Please help us welcome him to WCA!

First Day of School! The elementary's first day of school is
Thursday, August 18. This is a FORMAL UNIFORM DAY! School begins at 8:00am.

Drop-off & Pick-up Procedures
. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our
drop-off and pick-up procedures
before the first day of school. Remember to display the colored sign that designates the youngest student in your car.
Red: Kindergarten, Yellow: first grade, Blue: second grade, Green: third grade, Purple: fourth grade, Orange: fifth grade, White: 6th grade. Write your last name in bold, black marker and place the sign on your dashboard for pick-up. We appreciate everyone's cooperation.
Visitor Check-In Policy. We welcome visitors at WCA. It is our policy that visitors must check-in at the front office and be entered into our Raptor system. Proof of identification will be required in the form of a driver's license for
each visit to the school. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!
Before & After Care. Explorers Club is our Before and After Care program. The before school care will run from
6:30am - 8:00am and the after school care will run from
3:30pm - 6:00pm.

2016-17 Parent Presentation. In case you missed our parent meeting back in July, you can view the presentation here.
Welcome Back to School Party! The PTO is organizing a party! Join us at Rhyolite Park on August 19, 3:30pm till dark. There will be lots of food, fun, a DJ, new and old friends, and the Ooey Gooey Dessert Truck. This is a potluck, so sign-up here to bring something to share! Bring chairs and blankets too. WCA t-shirts for adults and kids will also be sold for $12 each, cash or credit. Hope to see you there!
Land Sharks Running Club Parent Meeting. Does your child need to burn off some extra energy? Does he or she like to run? A parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 6:30pm in the WCA gym. Come check it out!
