Campaign aims to promote attendance

The start of the school year is a critical time to build a culture of attendance. The "Count Us In!" online toolkit offers resources for educators and other groups to promote awareness and address absenteeism and truancy.

Migrant students, families celebrate success

They're likely the first in their families to finish high school. Now these 19 students will attend community colleges and universities with the support of scholarships raised by the Migrant Education Region 10 Parent Advisory Council.

State joins effort to 'go open' 

California is the 16th state to join the national #GoOpen initiative to advance the use of high-quality, openly licensed educational resources. These materials can be used for teaching, learning and assessment without cost, and can be modified and distributed without violating copyright laws.

State Superintendent Tom Torlakson is urging California teachers to join Collaboration in Common. This new digital community for educators seeks early adopters to help shape this first-of-its-kind statewide resource exchange.

Academy develops teacher leaders

The Teacher Leader Certification Academy is a two-year program aimed at increasing student achievement and improving decision-making at the school and district level. Sessions start in September.
