We All Live In A Purple Submarine...
Music can evoke many kinds of memories. We all remember where we were or what we were doing when we heard the first strains of our favorite song. The experience changed us somehow. No matter how young or old we are, we all remember that one Beatles song or album that made us swoon. My all-time favorite Beatles song is Blackbird (listening to it while I write this...) I recently discovered some kindred Blackbird spirits; Lombard Town Centre volunteer, Patty Worden shared that upon hearing the song, it reminds her of a time in her childhood when all was safe and sound. Downtown business owner, Michelle Potvin of Fringe  is  a big fan, Becky from The Corner House has Blackbird tattooed, and Dana Moreau of Babcock's Grove House shared that Steve Harnack owner of Park Avenue Guitarz taught her how to play Blackbird on the guitar many years ago. Wow, I'm in good company!

We all can wax nostalgic this Saturday, August 27th when American English , the famous Beatles cover band takes over downtown Lombard. This epic concert  sponsored by Cruise Nights starts at 7:00 p.m. and will be staged on St. Charles Avenue and Main Street. Pre-show events include Cruise Nights cars, the British Import, and a Kids Zone featuring popcorn, crafts, games and demos from Sky Centers Martial Arts.

This Purple Plans edition features our fabulous downtown restaurants and bars with outdoor seating - so you can have the perfect view of the concert while enjoying the many amazing refreshments available. We also share the favorite songs of our downtown establishments - you can read and listen at the same time.

I can't wait for Saturday! I bet more music memories will be made. "All your life. You were only waiting for this moment to arise..."

Friday Feature - Front Row Seats!
The following downtown Lombard restaurants and bars have outdoor seating options and are prime viewing locations for the American English concert on Saturday, August 27th. Each business listed will be open on the 27th, but they do require customers to purchase items in order to sit in their beautiful outdoor spaces. Even if you can't make it to the concert, read on and make plans to give each one a try while the weather lasts...

Shake it Up Baby, Now...

The Shannon's are definitely innovators. They have a successful business in Glen Ellyn and moved to downtown Lombard several years ago, opening a Butcher Shoppe. The Shoppe grew into a deli and catering business and the space expanded too. The only place left to conquer, was the roof! Shannon's rooftop opened to the public last week and wow, it's gorgeous! We posted the news to our Lombard Town Centre Facebook page and the news garnered over a14,000-person reach and almost 390 likes! People are excited!

The beautiful wood, bright colors of the umbrellas and the view make it a must-see destination! The rooftop deck, the first commercial rooftop in downtown Lombard and maybe in the entire Village, overlooks Lilacia Park and our downtown. This is the place to be during the American English concert! Oh, and as a special, they are serving Bangers & Mash for $6.99. Cheers!
