Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 12

August 26, 2016

Dear North Community Catholic School Parents:

Welcome to the end of another week!  We have a special event coming up next week on Thursday, September 1.  It is our annual open house night for parents.  I strongly encourage everyone to attend as you will receive valuable information about what to expect during the coming school year.  We will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Stoiber-Holzer gym with a brief presentation.  Following that presentation, the teachers of grades 6-8 will stay in the gym and do their parent presentations there.  All other teachers will present to parents in their classrooms.  This event is for parents only.  We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Tonight is our first ever color run!  This event is brought to you by our Parents' Association.  The run will start at 6:00 and is followed by hotdog dinner.  This is a really fun way to begin our school year and bring our school community together.  My thanks to everyone who worked hard to pull this event together!

This newsletter always contains a great deal of important information.  For example, there are new requirements for adults volunteering in the building when students are present.  Be sure to scroll through the whole letter and click all of the links!

Have a wonderful weekend!  See you at the color run!

    Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Beth Strbik
Principal

Important information for all school volunteers:
Our school community welcomes and encourages volunteerism.  Many events depend on support from volunteers, and we need your support.  The Diocese of Toledo has adopted new policies regarding volunteers who come in contact with students.  Please click here and carefully read the new requirements for ALL volunteers who work with students.

Important attendance information:
State law requires parents to notify school when their child is absent.  If your child needs to be absent from school or will be arriving late due to an appointment, please call the school before 8:30 a.m.

Open House
Our annual back to school night will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school gym on Thursday, September 1.  After the presentation, parents will move to classrooms where teachers will share information with you about their classes.  This event is for parents/guardians only.

Color Run Tonight! 5-8 PM
Join us as we celebrate the end of summer with our own fun color run!  Families may arrive after 5PM.  At 5:45 we will do some stretches and prepare for our run around the circle, which will take place at 6PM.  Following the short run, we will have a hot dog dinner for participants ($3 for others).

Marco's Pizza Night Thursday Sept. 1
Before you dash over to school for Open House, order your favorite pizza, sub or salad from Marco's to support the Parents' Association. The classroom with the most orders wins a pizza party! Funds raised support the PA, which provides financial support for field trips, classroom tools, guest speakers and more.

Save the Date:
Celebrating Grandparents: Friday Sept. 9, 8:30 AM Mass & Reception
In honor of Grandparents' Day (Sunday September 11) we invite all grandparents to attend mass with students on Friday September 9 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a reception for students and their grandparents in the middle school.  All grandparents are welcome!  Watch for an invitation next week.

Affirmations
"We are one body in Christ"

There have been some great acts of kindness displayed so far this year.  A student dropped his supply box and Olivia Sims did not hesitate to help pick the supplies up off the floor.  Food was left on a lunch table and Cameron Maciejewski picked it up and threw it in the garbage so the lunch crew could wash the tables.  Jerry Dupont helped a classmate pick up his supplies after they were spilled all over the floor.  It is so great to see our students step up to serve others.

Liam Krouse found money in a library book and turned it in!

NCCS Facebook
Dear Parents,

We have created Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts for NCCS, the North Community Catholic School.  The purpose of these accounts will be to share all of the amazing things happening at the St. Catherine's Early Childhood Education Center Campus, Regina Coeli Campus, and Most Blessed Sacrament Campus through one public account.  By following NCCS on Facebook, you will also find events from all of the schools and parishes which will strengthen our NCCS community.  Feel free to send any pictures you take of our schools to [email protected] or tag us in the post.  Please follow us at the North Community Catholic School Facebook Page, Twitter: @nccs_toledo, Instagram: @nccstoledo Hashtag is #NCCSToledo.  Also, please visit our website at www.nccstoledo.org!

Gym Clothes
All NCCS students in grades 2-8 must have official NCCS physical education uniforms to wear in PE class.  Students dress in their school uniforms and change for gym into the PE uniform.   You can order these uniforms at www.jazztextiles.com.   Select the online store, and our access code is BSNCCS.

Also available at this site are school uniform approved full zip fleece jackets and 1/4 zip pull over fleece to keep our kids warmer during the colder months, in adult sizes as well.  Like the gym uniform, they can be ordered any time and will be delivered to the school.

Fall Sports Sign-Up Change
Our students have the ability to participate in a variety of sports through the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish CYO athletic program.  Since the athletic program runs through the parish, not our school, you can find information about athletics on the parish website at www.blessedsacramenttoledo.com under "activities and events" and "youth board."  Fall sports include cross country, volleyball, football, flag football, soccer, and cheerleading.
Sign-ups are done electronically with instructions posted under the website listed above.

SCRIP
Shopping for groceries, filling the tank with gas, eating at a favorite restaurant....These routine things we do every week have proven to be a great way for Blessed Sacrament parents to shave off money from their child's tuition.  You purchase gift cards or certificates from places you shop at anyway and the discount goes back to your child's tuition.  More than 200 local businesses participate in the SCRIP program.  Families who purchase the certificates can designate that their portion be applied to their tuition bill.  To purchase SCRIP, contact Katie at [email protected] or phone her at 419-438-0476.

Recycleable Collection Items

"The Environmental Club would like to remind you that we collect the following items to send to Terracycle in exchange for money.  The money earned is used for supplies for our Religion classes and to purchase peanut butter, jelly, and bread for the lunchroom for students who forget their lunch.  We have listed the items acceptable to recycle.  Please send them in with your child.  We ask that you continue saving the items during the summer vacation.  Thank you to those who have been assisting us already."
