"Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations."  Luke 16:9

 

With these words, dearly beloved, our Lord Jesus Christ encourages us to use what He has given us to provide for those who are in need. We have recently received word of great need in Louisiana. A recent email from Lutheran Church Charities says:

  

Historic flooding in Louisiana has left at least three dead, and more than 1,000 needed to be rescued across central and southern Louisiana leading the governor to declare a state of emergency. Livingston Parish saw more than 17 inches of rain on Friday alone, and in Tangipahoa Parish, which is east of Baton Rouge and north of New Orleans, officials rescued 140 people from high waters and closed 80 roads due to flooding. Within the state, there are 18 parishes with emergency declarations and three others in the process of making emergency declarations.
