"S
ee if I will not throw open the floodgates
of heaven and pour out
so much blessing
that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3:10
This verse from the Old Testament sets forth a promise I have been thinking about lately. Many people think it has to do with tithing because it is preceded by a few words about bringing the tithe (one-tenth of what one produces) into the storehouse.
It's about much more than that, however. It is about something all mystics of all ages have know -- that when we turn to God, when we open ourselves to the vast flow of Life that is present everywhere, it rushes in, filling us with energy, abundance, wisdom, love, and blessing.
Because I'm human, I forget this often. Because I'm human, I have to prove it to myself over and over again. Maybe you do too. So I'm reminding you of the invitation to prove it, once again, to yourself.
Why not take whatever area of your life feels like it's coming up short and sit with it in prayer and meditation, giving your tithe of time and attention to focus on the Power of Life? Instead of focusing on the problem, the shortfall, the difficulty, focus on the Good, the Life-giving, the Peace-bringing, the Abundant. Cast your inner eyes toward your vision of how you want life to be in that area. Keep your eyes there -- that is your part of the bargain.
When you give that much -- that first move toward the Universe -- then the Universe pours back to you so much blessing that there is not room enough to store it. As our founder Ernest Holmes said, "Good and more Good is mine. An ever-increasing Good is mine. Everywhere I look I see Good!"
With great love,
