City Seeks Input on Corporation Yard Site Redevelopment
The City of Folsom plans to move its corporation yard and is seeking  community input on the redevelopment of the 16.3 acre site located on the west end of Leidesdorff Street near the American River Parkway, Lake Natoma and the Historic District.
The City's corporation yard houses the City's bus fleet, construction equipment, and police and fire vehicles, and serves as a maintenance center for all City-owned vehicles. The City of Folsom intends to relocate the corporation yard south of Highway 50 to reduce industrial traffic in the Historic District and to serve all areas of the City more effectively.
The City is seeking citywide feedback to capture community visions and values for the uniquely located property on Leidesdorff Street in Historic Folsom .  Community members are encouraged to share opinions on three site design examples, as well as offer unique ideas for the site. Feedback can be submitted on the City's MindMixer forum at http://townhall.folsom2035.com.
The three example land use scenarios emerged during a stakeholder visioning process with the city's design consultant Jeffrey Demure & Associates and a focus group comprised of local residents, local business owners, historic preservationists, advocates, student leaders and community leaders. The examples are a starting point to stimulate discussion and comment; the City is also interested in receiving other ideas.
Community feedback will be collected through August 31 and will be shared with the Folsom City Council at the September 13 City Council Meeting.
Learn more about the project on the City's website or contact project manager Stephanie Henry at 916-351-3349 or [email protected].
PG&E to Upgrade Electric Transmission Lines
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will begin work this month to upgrade approximately 12.5 miles of electric transmission line between Folsom and Shingle Springs. The work will be conducted by PG&E contract crews and will take place in phases along the line through early summer of 2018.
The Missouri Flat Gold Hill transmission line connects the Gold Hill Substation in the City of Folsom, the Clarksville Substation in El Dorado Hills, and the Shingle Springs Substation in Shingle Springs. This upgrade work will help to meet increasing electric load demands and replace aging infrastructure in El Dorado County.
Work will be performed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional work on Saturday and Sunday as necessary. In some areas, work will start as early as 6 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. The construction schedule is dependent on safe weather conditions.
Customers nearby the work will receive notification about the work and will be notified should an outage be necessary to complete the upgrades. In some cases, "No Parking" signs may be posted and traffic may be re-routed around the construction crew work areas.

Donors Needed for Folsom Public Library Blood Drive

BloodSource must collect about 700 units of blood per day to meet local demands. But only 38 percent of people in the U.S. are eligible to donate, and less than 10 percent actually do. Consequently, the lives of many depend on the generosity of a few.

Please consider being one of those generous enough to donate blood on August 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Folsom Public Library.  One donation has the potential to save as many as three lives. To make an appointment to donate visit www.bloodsource.org/drives and enter blood drive code D327.  For eligibility questions call BloodSource at 1-800-995-4420.
