ChurchNext Offering: Bridging the Political Divide

We are in the midst of what may be the most polarizing and contentious elections in recent U.S. history. Many observers note that the political rancor and rhetoric has reached all time highs, injecting unprecedented fear, division, and unease into our culture.

How do we make sense of this? How do people of faith respond? How do we remain calm and centered amidst our difference and tension, taking our roles as peacemakers and even prophets, seriously?

A number of you have reported receiving two copies of our new music brochure. We'd like to claim this as a brilliant marketing strategy, but in reality, it was a technical glitch.

Please give your extra copy to a music loving neighbor. We bet they will be glad you did!

a meeting to discuss next steps. The meeting will be at 9:00 am in the Cathedral Café on Sunday,  September 11 . The book group has been active here for 35 years and the current members are interested in facilitating the establishment of a second group that would determine its own procedures and have a high degree of integration with the  current group.

The current group, which meets in members' homes 10 times a year, has fourteen members and can't easily add new people, though there are some thoughts on how we could integrate. Your ideas are welcome! If you're interested in joining in the discussion about the new group, please show up on
September 11 , and/or contact Marjorie Fox or Lisa Koepke.
IHN Hosting Opportunities
September 11

The cathedral will be hosting the families of Interfaith Hospitality Network again from September 11-17 . As always, members and friends are encouraged to volunteer their time to welcome these families to our space and to spend time with them. The parents appreciate the food and shelter, certainly, when they are here,  but we more often hear back that they enjoy the conversations they have with our volunteers and the time we spend with their children. Playing games, helping with homework, and simply being present makes for time well spent for all involved. Have you been thinking about volunteering? Bring your family, come down for one night or for one hour. You'll be glad you did! Email Elizabeth Brown to learn more.

The Cathedral Academy offers classes of spiritual and theological substance to members of the cathedral, as well as the community, each fall and winter/ spring. The classes are free; registration is requested. They are offered on Wednesday evenings, and are structured as follows: Evening Prayer at 6:05 pm, dinner at 6:30, class at 7:00, and Compline at 8:15.
