Anita DeFrantz speaks at the 2016 Humanitarian Award reception held in her honor in Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
We had the great pleasure of hosting a reception in
Rio de Janeiro to honor
Anita DeFrantz and her lifetime of contributions to the world of sport. Earlier this year Anita was named the recipient of our
2016 Humanitarian Award

We were joined at the reception by many people who have had the pleasure of working with Anita over the years.  John Coates, IOC Vice President, delivered a memory-filled speech commending Anita for her countless efforts towards the betterment of sport.   David Ulich and Dr. Steven Ungerleider, executive board members of GSD, presented Anita with the award and a letter pledging a $100,000 gift to organization(s) of Anita's choosing.

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the reception and honor Anita with us.

We are thrilled and incredibly honored
that our short documentary,
" Munich '72 and Beyond," has been selected for the LA Shorts Film Fest.

The film will screen as part of Program 6 on Friday, September 2nd at 3:15 pm at LA Live. Tickets are available for purchase on the LA Shorts Film Fest website.

The GSD mascot made his way around Rio de Janeiro, attending Olympic events and meeting Olympians. Here are just a few snapshots from his time in Rio -- Check out more on our Facebook page!
