Voices of Luminosity by Mel Thompson September 1-November 30
Mel Thompson has been creating art all her life. She discovered that for her, pastels were the perfect mix of drawing and painting. She specializes in painting the Midwest landscape where she captures the essence of its light and atmosphere in an impressionistic style. This exhibit centers specifically on the varied quality of light that exists there.

Did you know that reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body? To celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, we're promoting both healthy activities. Trivia Night: Take Three
Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm
Put your random knowledge to the test with Pub Trivia USA. Start calling your smartest friends and put your 6-10 person team together. A team captain should register his/her name and then include the total number of participants (6-10) in the notes field. Prizes awarded to first, second, and third place teams. Refreshments and beverages provided. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Hinsdale Public Library.
The Hinsdalean Anniversary Celebration Friday, November 11 at 7:00 pm The Hinsdalean is turning 10 and they're celebrating with the Library! Enjoy refreshments, beverages, and a special performance by Freedom Sings. An all-star cast of musicians, Freedom Sings has been called "a singing history lesson." This entertaining evening includes narration, live performance, and a new perspective on the songs of patriotism and protest that have shaped an ever-changing America. HoopsFeet.org is collecting gently used basketball shoes to support The Giving Tree of Daybreak Center in Lockport, which serves needy families in the 7-county region. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
* Please drop off shoes in a bag or box to HPL's Youth Services Department during regular Library hours.
