Fall Training Off to a Great Start
Training for the fall 2016 season kicked off on Monday, August 1st with our Central, East, and Academy teams at our Town & Country and Four Seasons training facilities. All of our U7-U14 teams are back in action and preparing for league and tournament games which begin next weekend. Our U7-U10 programs also kicked off their Futsal training programs which is new this year to the player development curriculum. Kevin McCloskey, Men's Executive Director added, "It has been great having all the boys teams starting back at training this week. Our coaches have used this first week to lay down important foundations. We all look forward to a fun and productive season." Tiffany Roberts, Women's Executive Director, is excited to get started as well. "August is always a fun time of year because it is so focused on our youth program U7-U14 and allows our coaches and directors to zero in on where we are and where we can go with each other. With the age group changes that took place this year and some "new" teams, it makes this August even more exciting! Our coaches and directors are extremely focused on making sure our players have a great experience and continue t
o have fun and grow!"
The Futsal training program was identified as a priority by both our boy's and girl's staff to ensure we continue developing technically skillful players who can problem solve and be creative in tight spaces. Shawn Parker, Kings Hammer Youth Director, on the importance of adding the Futsal Program into the fall and spring curriculum, "Our goal is to assist in developing confident players on the ball when keeping possession or going to goal. Futsal will provide our players an opportunity to become more comfortable when dribbling and passing, given the consistency of a flat surface during training while also enhancing their ability to make quicker/smarter decisions on and off the ball due to the speed of play Futsal provides.
Futsal will also give our players the advantage of footwork and coordination training. As each player continues to grow, the importance of training or re-training their body movements is crucial. Quick cuts, pivots, and running form are essential teachings Futsal provides." We are excited to see the benefits of yearly Futsal training for our youth players!
