On August 5th we said good-bye to our co-worker, teacher and friend, Shannon Pritzkau who, in her time here, served as the Day Care 2 year old lead teacher and, most recently, as the Day Care Orange Room 4 year old lead teacher. It was with great sadness that we sent her off but we blessed her as she left to begin studies in Social Work along with a new job that will allow her to have more experience in that field.
Below are the changes to our day care teaching staff beginning on Monday, August 29:
Clara Manak, currently our 3 year old Lead Teacher, will assume the lead position in the Orange 4 year old room. Clara is excited, and we are excited for her, that she will be finishing her master's degree in
Curriculum and Instruction in Early Childhood in just a few
days!
Ashelle Spears will be Clara's full-time assistant in the Orange 4's. Ashelle has worked part-time in the day care since 2011 so she already knows most of the children and they know her! We are excited to have her with us full-time.
Leandra Cooke, most recently our Infant room Lead Teacher, will move to the 3 year old room and assume the Lead Teacher position. (Leandra has been working alongside Mattie this summer, giving leadership to our Summer Camp program.) Miss Galina will continue to be the assistant in the room. Leandra has her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Infant/Toddler care and is currently working to obtain her CDA for Preschool care as well.
Darlene Fimano has already assumed the Infant Room Lead Teacher position. Darlene previously held that position from 2008 - 2012 before moving to a full-time floater position. This summer she has been the lead in the infant room while Leandra helped provide leadership to our school age Summer Camp so the children have already transitioned to having Darlene in the room full-time.
Why move everyone around rather than hire a new teacher? Honestly, our teachers enjoy the change and the challenge of a new class/age level. Our teachers all visit each other's classes and they know all of the children on the hallway and visa versa. So while the some of the children's current teachers will change, they know all of these ladies well which will help with the adjustment. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us!
