A new approach to medical education is on the horizon at GUSOM and at medical schools across the country.

This semester, international health major Jack Sardinia (NHS'17) is conducting his research practicum at the Navrongo Health Research Centre in Ghana. 


 



By the end of the first semester of medical school, many students feel overwhelmed. This mind body medicine elective offers tangible skills to help students care for themselves. 

GUMC COMMUNITY MEETING





The next GUMC Community Meeting will be on Monday, September 12 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.  Dr. Ed Healton and other leaders will report on the ongoing GUMC facilities master planning process, provide updates on our research support initiatives and give an end of the fiscal year finance summary.  A reception follows the meeting.

  • Apply to Attend the Women's Leadership Institute!
    GUMC is sponsoring two travel awards to send two female administrators to the Women's Leadership Institute in Dana Point, California, December 6th-9th, 2016. Each award will cover the full cost of participation-including airfare, hotel accommodations, registration and meals not included at the event. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2016.   • KL2 Junior Faculty Scholars Program 
    Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science is now accepting applications f or its KL2 Junior Faculty Scholars program. Applications are due August 19 .

PRESS RELEASES

Washington (August 2, 2016) -- The first known household survey examining the collateral harm to pregnancy services in areas affected by the West African Ebola epidemic suggests a significant slide backwards in child and maternal health. The study, conducted in Liberia, points to the deep disruptions caused by the Ebola epidemic - even in parts of the country with relatively limited transmission.
