Women founders are taking over Northern Nevada - A survey of the fastest-growing startup companies in Northern Nevada found that roughly half are run by women founders. This is far above the national average, according to the Kauffman Foundation Startup Activity Index that states that only 36.8 percent of new entrepreneurs are female. Here is the RGJ

National Career Fairs Hiring Event 2016 at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on Tuesday, Aug 23, 2016 from 11am to 2 pm. There are hundreds of job opportunities, meet employers face to face, interview and get hired at event.
Western Nevada College (WNC), in partnership with international automation giant, Siemens, launched its new mechatronics program. The Governor's Office of Science, Innovation and Technology covered the entire program with a $150,000 grant, including equipment. The program will impact schools and local industries by creating more jobs for future innovators, and improve the state's reputation in education.

Reno 1868 FC on Wednesday announced the appointment of Andy Smith as the club's first general manager. Smith will lead day-to-day soccer operations and manage Reno 1868's relationship with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer (MLS), while handling soccer-related business with the United Soccer League (USL). "I'm excited to join Reno 1868 FC as the club continues preparations for its inaugural season," Smith said. "The organization has made great strides since the franchise was awarded to Reno last September, and we are well-positioned to move forward for a successful 2017 campaign." Here is the
