Message from Meg

Dear Friends,

If there's one thing CLF does well, and does consistently, it's collaboration.  We would always rather work with partners than alone, in all of our endeavors.  We're excited, as we told you last week, about our new collaboration with Standing on the Side of Love, working for the goals of the Movement for Black Lives.  We are launching a new collaboration to support and start small group ministries with a consulting group called LaunchPad, believing that together we can serve small congregations and groups better.  We work with UUA staff on many things ranging from vigils to social media.  We are in conversations with a host of other congregations, individuals, organizations and groups in what may eventually evolve into working partnerships.

Our flagship publication, Quest, is a study in collaboration.  Contributing writers and editors get no financial reward; just the knowledge of a job well done!  The VUU, our weekly talk show, features guests and hosts who make time and contribute sheerly out of love.  Guest preachers make videos and the musicians we feature in worship share their music without financial reward; only generosity. Volunteers host our list serves-some of them for decades now!-and moderate our Facebook groups and covenant groups.  Volunteers run our Board of Directors.

Collaboration makes us all stronger.  In a world that tells us we should compete with, not support, other organizations, it is also counter-cultural.  One congregation that has embodied that completely with their own generosity is Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul, which for over a year now has hosted the staff in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, providing us with desks and companionship as we do our work.  Particularly in those long bleak winter months, getting out of the house becomes paramount for momentum and happiness!

So, thanks to all of the many hearts, minds, hands, imaginations, and spirits that make CLF what it is!  One of the reasons I love gardening is because I love co-creation.  CLF is a very rich garden because of all of the support that comes in from every direction.

Warmly,

Meg

Staff Introductions:
Jody Malloy

Hi, I'm Jody Malloy, and I'm the Executive Director for the CLF. I manage all the business details necessary to get all of our good work done at the CLF. I am responsible for the budget and the financial reports. I organize the CLF board meetings and staff meetings. I oversee all of our activities at GA. I provide leadership for our support teams like fundraising and communications, and our program teams like prison ministry. I organize our annual search for intern ministers. I've been at CLF for a year, and am looking forward to my second year when I'm not new to everything!

I live outside of Philly. I have two kids - Katie who is starting her freshman year of college this fall, and Victoria, who will be a sophomore in high school - my husband, Chuck, and my adorable little fluffy dog, Sundae. I love to cook, get together with friends, and I spend a lot of time at my local UU church where I am on the executive team.
