Newport-Mesa Unified School District
Community Newsletter, August 2016
A quarterly publication of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District

With the start of the school year just around the corner, we take this time to thank the wonderful communities that we serve within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD). We truly value our relationships with the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach communities. A strong partnership exists between the leadership of both cities as we continue to collaborate on shared projects and work together in meeting the needs of our shared constituencies. With that goal in mind, NMUSD is launching a quarterly community newsletter. The purpose of the newsletter will be to share information with community members to keep abreast of our successes, challenges and issues that shape our work and mission to produce contributing members of a 21st Century society and economy. We hope that you look forward to receiving our communication and that the information contained within the publication provides you a window into the amazing accomplishments of our students and our district.

NMUSD Celebrates 50th Anniversary
As you may have read in  our  previous communications, NMUSD is celebrating a 50 year  legacy of excellence this school year. The events commemorating o ur golden anniversary will kick off with the State of the Schools Breakfast on September 26, 2016 at Newport Harbor High School. The event, which is hosted by the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation (NMSF), highlights the previous school year and provides a glimpse into what can be expected in the coming school year. Donations to attend the event are $32 per person (that's one dollar for each school) with proceeds going to the NMSF, which provides grants to teachers and scholarships to students.
