It's a well-known fact I am part albino (thanks to great northern European roots).  I swear I do spend my summer outdoors looking at fields.  But even I am beginning to doubt my time spent outdoors thanks to my one year old.  I was bathing her and noticed she has a better tan than I do.  Before you get all judgmental - I do cover her in sunscreen (or as well as you can on a one year old) and keep her in during peak sunburn hours.  At least my four year old seems to have inherited my albino gene.

I hope you are still out there searching for that legendary 5 bean pod.  I now have proof of its existence.

I only wish I could say I am the one who found it :(  I tip my beat up straw hat to Greg Nettekoven from Black Creek and his agronomist Jeremy Hunt.  The line has been drawn and I will challenge myself and all y'all (sorry, I am from southern Indiana and that is proper usage where I come from) to find one.

Speaking of beans, I am finding more white mold and still finding sudden death and brown stem rot.

Remember:
Brown stems inside = Brown stem rot
White stems inside = Sudden death
White mold has the sclrotia can be seen inside the stem (AKA rat poop)

On the same bean kick, does anyone out there want to take a stab at what's going on in this field? (Hint it is NOT dicamba/2,4-D/or any other auxin herbicide)

Since you mentioned dicamba, there is an interesting situation brewing in Missouri with one of the large peach growers.  We all know roundup Xtend beans were available for sale, but the new, improved dicamba was not available.  Some farmers there went off label and used old-school dicamba (illegal applications) and zinged a lot of non-target crops.  This could get really stinky for some growers and push back a tool we need in the fight against roundup resistance. I love peaches.

Since corn is feeling a little left out, I'd like to mention it is trucking right along.  This is ΒΌ milk.  You silage people need to be thinking about this soon.  I know of one guy who is starting today.  Grain guys this means, according to my math and optimism, it will be 18% by Oct 1st (this is not a guarantee, just an observation).
