SWCA Synod Vacation Bible School 2016

We got so many photos from Vacation Bible Schools held throughout the synod that we needed a special VBS edition of the Synews! You can still send photos of your church's VBS to Samantha at [email protected]

St. Paul's, Monterey Park's VBS  theme was Barnyard Roundup: Jesus Gathers Us Together. The Bible focus was the 23rd Psalm, which all children worked to memorize. 22 children, preschool through 6th grade, participated, as well as 10 + adult helpers.
"We all had a great, spirit filled week!"

Prince of Peace, Covina put together an innovative all-age VBS - Egypt: Joseph's Journey from Prison to the PalacePastor Thom played Joseph and Assistant Pastor Wally Burman played Pharaoh.  35 kids and 35 adults participated, along with 15 helpers.

"We build an Egyptian set which had a tomb on the stage, and rotated to various stations - games, crafts, music, snacks and Bible story time. VBS was held in the  evening, with a meal every night - we had Egyptian shish kabobs the first night. The final night featured  a professional Egyptian dancer.

"It was great fun and the story of Joseph seemed very timely with the message that each person is one of God's people and we need to promote forgiveness and compassion.  We also had a boys vs. girls coin competition, and raised $700 for a local homeless program that provides medical treatment as well as basic necessities."

St. Andrew's, Los Angeles created a Super Faith Friends Superhero VBS program from various resources.  With  9 kids (age 3-12) and four volunteers, they were few but MIGHTY! The kids learned about Biblical heroines and heroes in our super hero base. They created their own super costumes, learned about some super science, and practiced their special abilities given from God. The kids had a wonderful time and even made videos using their very own green screen!

St. Timothy, Lakewood also innovated with their "Holy Moly" VBS, which brought the Bible to life by featuring a new Holy Day, such as Palm Sunday or Maundy Thursday, each day of VBS. Of course there were also crafts and snacks, and over 95 in attendance!

Mt. Cross, Camarillo joined Team Jesus this Olympic season!
