On Sunday, we received from Licensed Unity Teacher, Shirley Williams, a wonderful reminder of the Divine Power that flows within us.  Thank you, Shirley!
Here are a few key points from Shirley's message, "Win Your Self Back":

• Many people pray to God, in a similar manner that a retail customer would call a service department call center, with requests, such as, "I want," "I need," "Give me," and so on;

• God is not a person, "up there, out there," but rather Consciousness, the "I AM";

• Prayer is a deliberate activity of seeking to recognize our Oneness with God, opening ourselves to the Power of God, as It moves through us.  In Unity, we pray, not to God, but from the consciousness of God within us (the Christ); 

• NOW is the time for Faith!  If there's a need of any kind in your life, this is your opportunity to "prove" God in your life;

• Affirm the Truth that there is only One Presence and Power in the Universe, and in your life;

• Know that God lives in you, and you live in God; this is the key to winning our Selves back.
   

NOTE: Shirley is the facilitator of our Unity Women Of Truth Circle (UWOTC).  This thriving community of women will be meeting this Sunday, August 21, at 12:30 p.m., in the Resource Room.

Friends, the decision to choose to live in Faith - believing that you are part of a Universe of all-sufficiency, that all your needs are already met - is an act of the Will.  In Unity, we celebrate Will, the eighth of our Twelve Powers, throughout the month of August.

Will is represented in the Bible by the Apostle Matthew, the tax collector, and the color silver.  The part of our bodies associated with this eighth Power is the central portion of the front of the brain.  

A truly effective way to use our Will to nurture the unfoldment and revelation of our deeper, spiritual nature is to choose, when hearing about the world's challenges (via print media, news broadcasts, the Internet, and the like), not to react (as we are often tempted to do) in haste.  Rather, I invite you to make the choice to reflect in silent prayer about the challenge or issue, then respond through acts of loving service, prayers for healing, compassion, affirmations of peace, random acts of kindness, or whatever you feel led by Spirit to do. 

Remember, you are not an automated response system to the world and its seemingly endless crises.  Don't react; choose!  Choose a new path, a new thought, new actions, and if you choose to speak words to others, use the power of your words to effect change - in yourself and in your life.  This powerful demonstration will change the consciousness of our world, and it all begins with you!
