Announcing the Winning Schools & Students of the Inaugural Sigma Nu Tau Video Pitch Competition!

We are pleased to announce the winners of The 2016 Sigma Nu Tau Video Pitch Competition!  The entrants submitted a 2-3 minute video, which had 4 main purposes:   (1) to recognize students' entrepreneurial successes in business plan or other entrepreneurial competitions,  (2) to high- light the learning process that takes place when students participate in these competitions, (3) to feature students' entrepreneurial talents, and (4) to promote the chapters'/schools' supportive atmosphere for developing great entrepreneurs.

The winners of the competition are:
First Place - $750 Prize and a beautiful plaque:  
SUNY Plattsburgh - Kevin Clayton

Second Place - $500 Prize and a beautiful plaque:  
George Washington University - Raghav Garg, Pranav Kaul, Parth Chauhan, Zeel Patel

Third Place - $250 Prize and a beautiful plaque:  
Illinois Institute of Technology - Sunny Shah, Corey Murugesan, Gabriel Connors, Vinesh Kannan

Welcome to the 20th Chapter 
of Sigma Nu Tau!

North Central College
 
North Central College in Naperville, Illinois became the 20th chapter to receive its charter for a Sigma Nu Tau Entrepreneurship Honor Society Chapter on Saturday, May 21, 2016.  The new chapter welcomes 8 student members, 3 faculty members, and 1 honorary member as charter members.  

Faculty advisor to the honor society chapter is Dr. Brian Hanlon, Coleman Foundation Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship & Associate Professor of Marketing.  Dr. Chetan Chawla serves as Faculty Secretary.  Dr. Nancy J. Church, President of Sigma Nu Tau, presented the charter and conducted the induction ceremony.

North Central College was founded in 1861.  They offer a major in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management.

New Sigma Nu Tau Board Member

   Dr. Mark Schenkel, faculty advisor to the Belmont University Sigma Nu Tau Chapter, joined the national board during the 2015-16 academic year.  Dr. Schenkel is highly published in the leading entrepreneurship journals, has authored several chapters in book, and has dozens of conference proceedings.  

   He is associate editor of the Journal of Small Business Management and is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship and the Journal of Ethics & Entrepreneurship.  

   He currently serves as the Senior V.P. of Finance for USASBE and has served as Senior V.P. of Marketing & Membership and Senior V.P. of Operations, and he was given the USASBE Executive Director's Award in 2016.
  
   Dr. Schenkel also is faculty advisor to the DECA/ICDC student group, and he has provided guidance to count-less students interested in starting entrepreneurial ventures both in and out of class.  Welcome aboard, Mark Schenkel!

Nik Rokop Promotion

   We are pleased to announce that Professor Nik Rokop, faculty advisor to the IIT Sigma Nu Tau Chapter, was appointed the Coleman Clinical Associate Profes-sor of Entrepreneurship in April 2016.  Prof. Rokop also chairs the Illinois Tech Entrepre-neurship Academy Coun-cil and supports the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship at IIT. 

   According to the IIT website,  " As a lifelong entrepreneur, advisor to and investor in entrepre-neurial ventures, Rokop has a passion for creating new businesses and helping others succeed. Rokop is past president and CEO of Lake Technology Partners, a management, business development, and tech-nology commercializa-tion group specializing in nanotechnology. 

   He has more than 20 years of successful entrepreneurial experi-ence in engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and interna-tional operations. His career spans the iron and steel industries, manu-facturing, consulting and the Internet."
