2016 Water Access and Quality Convening Materials Now Available

On August 12, CFPA convened water experts from across the state to discuss strategies to improve the safety, consumption, and appeal of water. A number of policy recommendations were discussed and vetted to promote water access and water quality in the federal nutrition programs, school, and community settings. Those in attendance shared opportunities for collaboration and contributed new ideas to expand drinking water access for children and families across California. In the coming weeks, CFPA will be releasing a policy brief describing in detail many of the ideas discussed during the convening.

A special thank you to our funder, Kaiser Permanente-Northern California Region and convening participants who are working hard to make water the beverage of choice and accessible to all Californians.

Don't Forget to Make Your Voice Heard: Take CFPA's 2017 Policy Survey Today!

CFPA is launching its 2017 policy development process and we need your input! Take our online survey today and help us gather valuable stakeholder feedback to identify challenges facing Californians with regards to their health, well-being, and access to nutritious, affordable food. Survey results will inform CFPA's internal policy development process and help guide our 2017 policy priorities, which may include legislation, research, or administrative advocacy, among other strategies.

The survey should only take about 15-20 minutes of your time. Questions are organized by topic area so you can easily provide feedback only on the topics most relevant to your experience and work. Your answers will be kept anonymous, unless you provide contact information for additional follow-up.

We will be  collecting responses until 5pm on Wednesday, September 7 . All respondents will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card.

Want to Help put More Food on the Table? Learn More About Serving on CFPA's Board of Directors

California Food Policy Advocates is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of low-income Californians by increasing their access to nutritious, affordable food. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the time and talents of our Board of Directors to guide and advance this mission.

We are looking to expand our Board membership in order to:
  • Bring new expertise and experience to the organization . While we may continue to add members with food policy connections, we are most interested bringing on new skills and knowledge from candidates with backgrounds in marketing, human resources, finance, technology, and more.
  • Build a Board that reflects the diversity of the great state of California. We are looking to strengthen the board by increasing geographic diversity - especially inland and in communities with persistent poverty. And given the economic inequities and the racial inequalities that challenge our mission, we want to continue to build a board that reflects the diversity of the state and the people we serve.
