E-to-E: Spanning Opportunity and Skills Gaps with Education-to-Employment Pathways

The College Scorecard and Return on Investment

Insofar as return on investment (ROI) is the name of the game in higher ed, especially in business schools, a useful metric can be found by calculating the net present value (NPV) based on the costs and benefits of a college degree from a particular institution. Michael Dunlop, a visiting associate prof at Suffolk University's Sawyer Business School, explains how using a 10-year NPV is an important ROI calculation considering that a majority of graduates face important financial challenges within the first decade after graduation, including paying off student loans, purchasing a first home and starting a family.  Dunlop explains how the NPV looks for different Massachusetts B-schools.
