CONFLUENCE 2016, a statewide arts conference, will be held September 26-27 at the Sacramento Convention Center.  This year's theme is "Better Together - Best Practices from the Field." Last year's CONFLUENCE attracted more than 250 arts leaders from throughout California to Sacramento.  Key influencers and decision-makers will join together again this year to share ideas and to learn from thought-leaders in the field.  

The conference is being presented by Californians for the Arts, whose  mission is to increase public awareness of the importance of the arts, ensure that the arts are an ongoing part of the public dialogue, and encourage Californians to care about the arts as a critical component of their own lives and the lives of their communities.

Californians for the Arts President and ArtsOC Executive Director Richard Stein commented, "CONFLUENCE 2016 is a terrific opportunity for arts leaders in all disciplines to get acquainted and to participate in a valuable learning and sharing experience .  Last year, Orange County's arts community was well-represented, and I hope to see even more of my colleagues there this year."

 

The program is still being developed, however keynote speaker has been confirmed:  Nina Simon, an internationally-recognized expert on active community participation in cultural institutions and has been named a "museum visionary" by Smithsonian Magazine for her innovative approach to design.  Breakout session and roundtable discussion topics include: Arts Education, Arts in Corrections, Storytelling and Making the Case for the Arts, Cultural Districts, Diversity & Equity, Arts and Public/Private Partnerships, Fundraising, Grant Panels and Grant Writing, Public Art, Working with Individual Artists, Arts and Technology, Arts Marketing and others.
