June 2016
Notes from the Principal:

Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Parents,

I just want to say how excited the staff and I are for next school year.  Each year just gets better and better.  We are getting the playground washed and repainted.  The blacktop by the playground has been brought back to life.  The custodians are working hard to make our building clean and inviting.  Best of all, the staff is resting and getting ready for a whole new set of students.  Over the summer, we will be producing some "how-to" videos to help some of our new parents.  Join us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/KirkersvilleElementarySWLSchools/) or join my e-mail list by subscribing on the Kirkersville homepage (http://www.swl.k12.oh.us/kirkersvilleelementary_home.aspx).  Please enjoy the summer!

School supply lists can be found by clicking on this link or by going to the Kirkersville website.

Enjoy the summer!

How to help your student learn
Summer Tips!
·         Read, read, and read more - Exposure to reading will only increase the understanding that letters make words, words make sentences and sentences tell a story.
·         Count everything - Rote counting will solidify students' understanding of numbers and lead to being able to manipulate them by adding or subtracting.
·         Let your child struggle through difficult tasks like tying shoes, opening containers, carrying their food to the table, etc. - We promote independence here at Kirkersville.  With about 600 students, adults can't do everything for all children.
