June 2016
Notes from the Principal:
Hello!

We are very excited about the upcoming school year. Teachers have been in and out all summer working on lesson plans and exciting activities for the students here at Etna Elementary. I have been very impressed with their excitement and willingness to step outside the box as we continue to embrace new instructional strategies and continue to grow as a blended learning community.

School supply lists can be found by following this link or by going to the Etna website.

We have many changes coming to Etna for next year that we are very excited to share with you!  Be sure to follow us on Facebook for up- to- date information and as always, don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns!

Looking forward to a great year!

Tanya Moore, Principal
Joe Pratt, Assistant Principal

How to help your student learn
Summer Tips!
A tip for parents to help their kid study

Summer is an awesome time of the year and here are some great ways to sneak in some extra learning, while still having fun!
1.     READ!  - Read in the car, visit the library, listen to audio books
2.     Learn a New Word Every Week - Find a new word to learn each week and keep a score for who in the family can use the word correctly the most times for the week
3.     Get Cooking!  - Cooking with your child is a fun way to teach math and reading skills, along with how to read directions.
4.     Hit the Road! - Take a field trip, but before you go, read about the area and have your student write a journal entry about what they learned
5.     Get Outside! - Go for walks, hikes, or bike rides.  Measure things along the way, investigate properties and look up additional information when you get home!
