Hello and welcome to another edition of the Rivet Newsletter! I'm happy to be back this week after taking a week's vacation. I did lots of fun stuff, including attending my first ever Sugar Maple Traditional American Music Festival in Madison, Wisconsin. There was lots of bluegrass, folk, and other great music to be heard and dancing to be done. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend attending! It was held at Lake Farm County Park, and the grounds there are criss-crossed with gorgeous nature trails to hike around on. A big lake centers the whole place, with easy fishing access for us anglers--just be sure to get your license!

Lake Farm County Park also features a large section of restored prairie; a project that took over a decade to complete. Many beautiful native grasses and other plants can be seen there, just as they would have been before the frontier swept past Wisconsin and onto the West. Just be sure to wear some strong bug spray--the mosquitos swarm aggressively that close to water.

Chicago Show News! 
We are officially 6 weeks away from the Chicago Toy Soldier Show in September!  As of yesterday we have begun selling Tickets for the Customer Appreciation Dinner we host with Sierra and Troops of Time.

It is on Friday September 23rd this year and at the Bahama Breeze Restaurant.  Andy Neilson of King & Country will be this years Guest Speaker and we look forward to seeing all who can make it!

The latest releases from John Jenkins Designs are sure to please, with figures spanning continents and eras. The Great War has a new bird in the sky as Ltn. Franz Ray's Albatros DIII takes flight! In addition to that release, there are two more sets of 10th anniversary figures up fro grabs--this time reinforcements for the Jacobite Rebellion in the form of Scots in French service. "It's World War One's turn, a couple of sets from this period. One set brings 2 pack mules, carrying supplies and ammo, with one soldier carrier. The other sets, set 429, is a set with only 3 pack mules, in case you want to add only mules to your collection. In the case of set 428, the carrier can be from any set you wish (World War I, French Foreign Legion, Russo-Japanese War, The Boxer Rebellion, etc). You just need to which set belongs the soldier carrier chosen for the set."

News from King & Country - August's First Release!

The latest items from King & Country include some really interesting additions to the North Africa campaign of WWII. The famous LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) that operated behind enemy lines and performed vital reconnaissance throughout its deployment has some new faces for you to add to your displays and dioramas. The Streets of Old Hong Kong also grow a little richer with the addition of two sets. Finally, some diorama accessories to add that dash of realism and scale to your scenes are now available. Statues of the Kaiser, a Medieval Trumpeter, and a Napoleonic Era Russian Officer are all available separately or packaged with a decorative plinth to stand on. Don't miss out either on the Desert Wall piece--sure to be popular due its high versatility in time periods!
