Civic and governmental entities may also be considered. There is no specific funding priority and the minimum grant request is recommended to be $5,000. 2016 Scholarship Luncheon
|
More Than $150,000 Awarded
A Scholarship Luncheon, sponsored by WesBanco, was held to honor awardees and to thank donors on August 5 at Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center. The gathering provided an opportunity for donors to meet scholarship recipients and celebrate their successes.
Recipients of the Ohio County Bar Association Scholarship are joined by Kris Molnar, CFOV board member, and
Jeff McCamic, Ohio County Bar Association representative
The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley administers over 60 scholarship funds for a variety of opportunities. This year, CFOV gave more than $150,000 in scholarship awards to 113 students throughout the Upper Ohio Valley, representing 22 area high schools. Scholarship awards ranged from $250 to $27,568 and many are renewable, which extends the impact of such gifts.
Community Foundation scholarships are as unique as the individual donor. Scholarships managed by CFOV represent memorials for loved ones, an affinity for a particular major, school/university, intended career path, financial need and even being a first generation college student.

Civic Leaders Fellowship Program
|
Seven Week Program Concludes
The 2016 class of the Civic Leaders Fellowship Program concluded July 22 with a celebratory picnic. This year, 20 students took part in the program, a community leadership initiative of CFOV, and spent seven weeks working as interns at Ohio Valley businesses and organizations. Weekly professional and personal development opportunities were offered and second year fellows took part in writing a competitive grant application for a local nonprofit. The winning application was written on behalf of the SMART Center and will provide $5,000 for mobile science kits.
The Civic Leaders Fellowship Program seeks to expose participants to the professional and community opportunities in the Ohio Valley, demonstrating the potential that exists for their futures upon college graduation.
Planning for the next class of civic leaders will begin soon. To learn more about the program and how you can get involved, please call CFOV at 304-242-3144 or send an

WLU Program Offers Design Services
Local non-profits and start-ups seeking graphic design resources are invited to consider an opportunity through West Liberty University and student designers.
Under the direction of WLU faculty member Jim Haizlett, students involved in the graphic design program partner with organizations with limited resources to create branding, identity systems, websites, brochures, presentations, videos, billboards, and more.
There is no cost to anyone to apply, and the only cost to organizations is for the actual physical products that they may choose to order: billboards, print materials, websites, etc. Organizations may begin applying for the program by using this
