Some golfers think they are not "good enough" to get custom fit. Fitters say that a main reason why golfers hit it sideways is because their club specifications do not suit them. Using equipment with the wrong length, flex, lie angle or grip size will encourage a player to compensate and prevent them from developing proper mechanics.
You wouldn't buy a pair of shoes without trying them on for size so you shouldn't buy clubs off the rack assuming they fit your swing!
