Dear Friends,

We will offer a healing and anointing ritual this Sunday August 29th, 5 pm! We will call upon the spirit of the Shaman Mary Magdalene to guide us in healing the wounds of the church and our culture and abusive values of dominance over.

Shamans are defined as messengers between the this world and the spirit world. Mary Magdalene  the first to

see the resurrected Christ is well within the perimeters of shamanism in my view. Often shamans treat the sick and certainly Jesus was a shaman who treated the sick and some of us who believe Jesus and Mary Magdalene were partners in ministry, assume that Mary Magdalene treated the sick with him. In fact, it is Mary Magdalene that is associated with the healing ritual of anointing. Perhaps Mary Magdalene taught Jesus anointing rituals. We will use spikenard the same oil Mary Magdalene used and like Mary Magdalene we will anoint all spiritual wounds, especially those caused by the church and cultural patriarchy.

Please join us as we call upon the spirit of Mary Magdalene and Jesus to be with us as we retell some of the story of Jesus's' ministry but add Mary Magdalene as an active participant.  Join us in honoring Jesus and Mary Magdalene's' shamanic healing ministry! That Jesus and Moses were shamans is not a new idea, for like Mary Magdalene they also interacted with the spirit world. Oddly, the title is  rarely applied to Mary Magdalene.

Wikapedia writes, shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching  altered states of consciousness  in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world.  A shaman is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of  benevolent and malevolent spirits , who typically enters into a  trance state  during a  ritual , and practices  divination  and  healing ...... ecstasy '."Shamanism encompasses the premise that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness. The shaman also enters  supernatural realms  or  dimensions  to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community. Shamans may visit other worlds/dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls and to ameliorate illnesses of the human soul caused by foreign elements. The shaman operates primarily within the spiritual world, which in turn affects the human world. The restoration of balance results in the elimination of the ailment."

Sunday, Aug. 29th  Matthew Chapter 5: 9-12 the Gospel of Matthew 5:9-12
The Message You're Blessed  Chapter 5:  "You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family. 10  "You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom. 11-12  "Not only that-count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens-give a cheer, even!-for though they don't like it,  I  do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.
