ASCCA Member Shop Damaged in Fire
Jerry and Sandy Kubitsky, owners of Summit Transmissions in La Mesa, CA experienced a tragedy on Wednesday when a vehicle with an electrical short caused a fire in their shop. This caused considerable damage.
Tracy Renee has set up a  Recovery Fund through YouCaring Compassionate Crowdfunding for anyone who would like to make a financial contribution to their rebuilding.
Wage Order 9: Tool Acknowledgement
ASCCA has reported previously on the laws pertaining to an employer supplying uniform and tools/equipment necessary to perform the job. We would like to remind you of a report issued by ASCCA on how Wage Order #9 impacts your business, as well as a sample form you can use to acknowledge the understanding with your employee(s).
New Phishing Scheme Targets Tax Professionals
The Internal Revenue Service is alerting tax professionals to a new phishing scheme where scammers pose as tax software companies.
Several tax professionals received emails asking the recipient to download and install an "important software update" via a link included in the e-mail.
Once recipients click on the embedded link, they are directed to a website to download a file appearing to be an update of their software package. The file has a naming convention that uses the actual name of their software followed by an ".exe extension."
