Notes From Sunday's Sermon
"WE NEED A WORD FROM THE LORD" ( Romans 8:26-28)

I am at this point in my life when I have been seeking God for a genuine revival, i.e., one that isn't planned by me, but by Him, and for His church. I have been seeking the Holy Spirit's leading and asking Him to make me over so that I may see the Church and its needs through His eyes and not my own.

Revival is almost an unused term in the church today. When I think of revival I am specifically spe aking about those seasons or "time of refreshing" and renewal the Holy Spirit brings to the life His church and transformation in our communities. It is that "vigorous season of preaching, conviction of sin, prayer, joy, worship, and evangelistic activity." We don't have very many revivals today. We have events!

Historically, when we look at the revivals of the past they brought positive change in society and the church. However, much of what we call revivals today are events where we come to hear well-known speakers, professional singers, and have a worship experience that makes us feel good. However, if we clearly understand the revival that took place in Acts, it transformed an entire community of people.

Many of the early evangelists truly cared about the church and people they were called to serve. Lives were changed and transformed. They knew how to "work the altar." They labored and prayed for everyone that stood in the prayer-line. Sometimes praying for people in the prayer-line took longer than the sermon. There was an anointing that flowed that moved people to "go tell" what Jesus had done. What's the difference? It seems to be all about performance. People come to church now to hear the speaker and not the One who speaks. We need a word from the Lord!

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.
Give Unto Christ's Church
Give God your best!  Give Him and His church the best of your time, your treasures, and your talent!  He has given you everything you have so show your gratefulness through your giving.

Ninety-first Church Anniversary Service
Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 10:30AM

The focus and theme for this Day is:  "Our God Is Faithful"  (Deuteronomy 7:9) .   As a church family we are truly grateful and thankful for the faithfulness of God in that he has kept, blessed, chosen, and allowed us to be witnesses for ninety-one years. The gospel of Jesus Christ has and is yet being preached to the people of God.

We are blessed to have  Rev. John Chandler Cleveland, an international conference speaker who served as a Senior Pastor for over 20 years, as our anniversary speaker.

All are invited! Share-the-date of the anniversary with your network and invite on Facebook, Eventbrite, and Instagram! This anniversary marker in time is another confirmation of purpose and focus on Evangelism and the Advancement of the Kingdom for the next 91 years!
Growth Opportunities
Be a part of an auxiliary ministry of Memorial Tabernacle? As stated in (Philippians 2:17-30), "Service is the essence of the good life" so let us "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV)
